Regardless of whether they live at home or in a nursing home, elderly people aged 65 or above, those who require continuous care and those who receive comprehensive assistance can apply for various living allowances and pension schemes in accordance with established procedures, such as nursing home subsidies or nursing home comprehensive assistance. These living allowances and financial assistance include comprehensive assistance (comprehensive assistance), disability allowance, old-age allowance (fruit money/old man's money), elderly living allowance, Guangdong plan and Fujian plan, etc.

The eligibility and application procedures for various subsidies and assistance are different. Applicants need to pass asset tests or physical assessments and be approved for different amounts of assistance or subsidies based on the assessment results. Depending on the applicant's care needs and financial situation, different subsidies and assistance can be applied for to subsidize living expenses and pay for hospital expenses.

1. 長者綜援（綜合援助）

Comprehensive Assistance (CSSA) provides income assistance to those whose income is insufficient to meet their basic living needs, so as to ensure that they can achieve a basic standard of living.

申請資格：

申請綜援時，申請人及其家庭成員的資產及入息必須低於綜援計劃的限額，方能通過資產審查和入息審查。若申請人需要持續照顧或老人院資助，則需要符合指定的健康狀況條件，方能通過身體評估，並按審批結果評級。

資助金額：

綜援資助及老人院綜援金額每月由 $4,195 至 $11,355 不等，另外根據綜援長者的需要設有額外特別津貼。

2. Disability allowance

Disability Allowance provides living allowance to persons who require frequent or continuous care from others in their daily lives to meet their special needs arising from severe disabilities.

Eligibility:

When applying for disability benefits, applicants need to meet specified health conditions before they can pass a medical assessment and be rated based on the approval results.

Amount of funding:

The monthly Disability Allowance is $2,070 or $4,140. The Disability Allowance for elderly persons receiving Comprehensive Assistance will be incorporated into the monthly Comprehensive Assistance.

3. Old-age allowance (fruit allowance/old-age allowance)

The Old Age Allowance (Old Age Allowance) provides a cash allowance to eligible elderly persons to meet their special needs arising from old age.

Eligibility:

To apply for Old Age Allowance (Fruit Allowance/Old Age Allowance), the applicant must be 70 years of age or above.

Amount of funding:

The monthly subsidy for Old Age Allowance (Fruit Allowance/Old People’s Allowance) is $1,620 and cannot be received at the same time as Comprehensive Assistance for Nursing Homes.

4. Elderly Living Allowance

The Old Age Living Allowance is a living allowance provided to people aged 65 or above who are in financial need to help with their living expenses. Whether an elderly person can receive the Old Age Living Allowance at the same time depends on the type of assistance they receive from nursing homes.

Eligibility:

When applying for Old Age Living Allowance, applicants must be 65 years old or above, and their assets and income must be below the limits of the subsidy scheme in order to pass the asset test and means test.
